🅿️ Permits
- Do I need a permit? Yes. All vehicles on campus must have a valid permit or pay for hourly parking. Enforcement is 24/7.
- When can I buy my permit? Permit sale dates are posted online and emailed out. Fall permits usually go on sale in August.
- What if I forgot my permit? Visit the East or West entrance gates for a one-day pass or email parking@utep.edu.
- Can I register more than one vehicle? Yes, but only one vehicle may be on campus at a time under the same permit.
🔁 Permit Returns
- Can I return my permit? Yes! Permits can be returned if you no longer need them. Students may be eligible for a prorated refund based on the quarter, and employees on payroll deduction may stop future deductions by returning their permit.
- How do I request a permit return? Fill out the online.
- What if I lost my permit? Report it immediately. Replacement fees may apply. If it was stolen, provide a police report for the fee to be waived.
🎓 Student Permits
- Can employees buy student permits? No. Employees must purchase employee permits.
- I live on campus — what permit do I need? A Purple (Housing) permit. It’s valid only for your assigned housing lot.
- Can I park anywhere with a student permit? No. Each permit is only valid in specific zones. Check your purchase confirmation or permit map.
⚠️ Citations
- How do I pay a citation? Log in to the and select "Pay Citation." Need help? Use our step-by-step guide.
- Can I appeal a citation? Current students, faculty, and staff can appeal eligible citations through their parking accounts at parking.utep.edu. Your appeal will be reviewed and you will get a final decision in 12–14 business days. Citations are only eligible for appeal within 18 calendar days of the date of issuance. Not all violations are eligible for appeal, including ILLEGAL ENTRY/EXIT OF FACILITY and EXPIRED METER.
- What are invalid reasons for appeal? The following reasons are examples of potentially invalid appeals. (These are not all inclusive.)
- Parked for only a few minutes
- Not agreeing with the rules/regulations
- Inclement weather
- Late for class/meeting
- Lot full
- Only drives occasionally and does not want to purchase a permit
- A friend/coworker told me it was okay to park here
- Other vehicles were also parked improperly/illegally
- No one told me my permit expired
- No one told me where or how to park on campus
♿ ADA / DV Parking
- Do I still need a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø permit with my ADA placard? Yes. You must have both a valid ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø permit and your state-issued ADA placard or plates.
- Can I park anywhere with ADA credentials? A valid ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø permit allows you to park in the designated lot, and your ADA credentials allow you to park in any ADA space within that lot. Fire lanes, reserved spots, an
